Alumni

The Alumni Program helps support the recruitment and retention of former NSP members by offering a special alumni membership category. This membership is designed for individuals who are no longer active in providing emergency care or rescue services but still wish to stay connected with the NSP community. Alumni status is available to anyone who has been registered as a Patroller for at least one year and needs to step away from active duty for any reason.

Awards

The National Ski Patrol honors the dedication and contributions of its members through the Awards and Recognition Program. Merit Stars are presented for acts of bravery in hazardous rescues or for saving—or attempting to save—a human life. Leadership is acknowledged through National Appointments (NA) and Leadership Commendation Appointments (LCA). Long-term commitment and service are celebrated with Distinguished and Meritorious Service Awards, induction into the NSP Hall of Fame, and the prestigious Minnie Dole Award.

Patroller Wellness

The Patroller Wellness Task Force offers up-to-date, evidence-based guidance to support the health and well-being of all NSP members. The National Ski Patrol is committed to ensuring the safety and wellness of every patroller. Through ongoing education, training, and proactive initiatives, NSP promotes a culture of wellness, safety, and resilience across the organization.

Safety

The National Ski Patrol Safety Program is a recognized leader in promoting and educating the public on outdoor recreational safety. Aligned with NSP’s mission and core values, the Safety Team plays a vital role in advancing safety awareness across the industry. Committed to excellence, the team strives to be a trusted authority in ensuring safety at outdoor sports activities and events.

Women's Program

The mission of the NSP Women’s Program is to empower patrollers by enhancing skills and fostering leadership through a program designed with a focus on women. It offers training tailored to the unique strengths and perspectives women bring to patrolling—particularly in areas like toboggan handling, where anatomical differences may influence technique. The program also creates valuable opportunities for women to connect, network, and build stronger relationships within their patrols, divisions, and the broader National Ski Patrol community.

Young Adult Patroller

The NSP Young Adult Patroller (YAP) Program offers a structured, supportive environment for young adults ages 15 to 17 who are interested in ski patrolling. Designed to guide their growth from adolescence into adulthood, the program focuses on developing skills in snow sports safety, injury prevention, emergency care, outdoor response, skiing and snowboarding, physical fitness, leadership, and patrolling. To ensure a safe and positive experience, the YAP Program also provides youth protection training for instructors, volunteers, and patrollers who work with young participants.
